a)2x=3/4 so two things you can do i. 4(2x)=3 8x=3 x=3/8 PS: this is easier ii. x=(3/4)/2 x=3/4/2/1 x=3/8 b) m/3=-2/5 again two ways i. 5(m/3)=-2 5m/3=-2 5m=-2×3 5m=-6 m=-6/5 ii. m=3(-2/5) remember multiply the number to only the numerator m=-6/5 c) -2 1/2x=-3 1/2 make it easier, make it into fractions -2 1/2= -2×2+1= -5/2 -3 1/2= -3×2+1= -7/2 -5/2x=-7/2 -5x/2=-7/2 -5x=2(-7/2) -5x=-14/2 -5x=-7 x=-7/-5 x=7/5
