slope: 42 - 26 / 5 - 3 = 16 / 2 = 8

y = 8x + 2   ↔ standard form

f(x) = 8x + 2 ↔ function notation

y-axis is the total rent that Jake has to pay. x-axis is the number of hours. The slope is 8 and the x-intercept is 2.
